For CNY, FIS students engaged in some blissful Year of the Rat celebrations!
Chinese opera mask workshops, visit of the Wong Tai Sin Temple, traditional costumes, Chinese noodle-making (and tasting!) workshops, encounter and practical workshops with illustrator He Zhihong, traditional instruments concert, Chinese painting and calligraphy activities, screening of movie "The King of Masks", Year-of-the-Rat story-writing in Mandarin, and of course the inevitable Lion Dances and Dragon Parade...
This year again, FIS students from both streams and all ages got a chance to partake in a wide array of wonderful activities.
In order to encourage everyone's involvement and the mixing of students, our TKO Secondary students ran Year-of-the-rat themed arts and crafts sessions to their Primary counterparts, by manning booths set up in the playground. They also went to the different agoras to sing Chinese songs to their young comrades, creating some nice moments of togetherness!
All aspects of Chinese culture were represented: gastronomy, visual arts, music, religion and of course language, since each project was an opportunity for our students to improve their Mandarin skills.
These celebrations will undoubtedly remain as one of the highlights of the 2019-2020 school year.
