IGCSE Results 2023

French International School students achieve excellent 2023 Cambridge IGCSE results

The French International School (FIS) is delighted to announce that its Year 11 students have yet again scored high grades in the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Examinations. The Cambridge IGCSE programme is a universally recognised qualification among international schools and universities worldwide which aims to provide learners with a broad and balanced mix of practical experience and theoretical knowledge.

This year, over a third of FIS students achieved 8 A*/A grades  and four students in particular stand out with 10 A*/A grades each. Furthermore, over a quarter of all IGCSE examinations taken by FIS students were graded at A*, and over a half at A*/A. Eighty five per cent of year 11 students scored 5 or more passes at C or above.  These results compare favourably with those of the UK Independent Schools averages for the GCSE/IGCSE examinations.

“Congratulations to alI our IGCSE graduates! In what was a particularly difficult time for Hong Kong students over the past two years, with large periods of their studies being disrupted by the Covid pandemic, their dedication and hard work over the last 2 years along with support provided by their teachers and parents have led them to achieve their  own personal best. We are looking forward to welcoming them into Year 12,” said Ian Clayton, Head of International Stream.

These students will now progress to the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 12 and 13. Mark Williams, head of the secondary school believes that the IGCSE programme helps students build a strong foundation for the IBDP which is designed to give students a broad, well-rounded international education and the skills needed for success at university and beyond. FIS was the first school in Hong Kong to be authorised as a World IB School in 1988, and celebrates 35 years of excellence in the IBDP this year. FIS students regularly achieve high grades well above the world average for their IB diploma programme, and are admitted into prestigious universities around the globe.
