1 show for kids and 2 theater shows in French at FIS
The French Theatre Festival in Hong Kong organised by the charity Pour Un Sourire d'Enfant (PSE) is back for the second time from 15 to 18 March 2017.
The following plays will be taking place at the Jardine's Lookout auditorium:
- Scapin, the schemer* by Molière, 15 March 2017 at 8pm.
*Please note that all 6è-5è students (except 5ème E and F) will have a representation on the 17 March at 10:30am
An outstandingly dynamic version of Molière’s most famous comedy of intrigue. In this interpretation, Scapin is a mischievous whirlwind, resolving two love affairs whilst concurrently settling scores with paternalistic tyranny.
- Matakonda comes on stage by Anne Vantal, 18 March 2017 at 3pm (Play for children from 5 years old)
Matakonda is a hideous witch who mistreats her only son, Tom. Tom ends up running away from her. Soon after, Tom meets a beautiful princess, Samantha, and her love will help him heal his wounds… Based on this story published as a novel, two young actors, Sophie and Leo must elaborate a show intended to be performed on stage. With a few tricks and a lot of imagination, they will transform the tale step by step and create the illusion on stage. An opportunity for a young audience to be swept away by a show being put together right before their eyes.
- Farewell, Monsieur Haffmann by Jean-Philippe Daguerre, 18 March 2017 at 8pm
May 1942, in Paris: A decree is passed compelling all Jews to wear the yellow star. On the verge of bankruptcy, Joseph Haffmann, a Jewish jeweler, suggests his employee - Jean Vigneau - take over the running of his shop… “until things get back to normal…”
Refreshments will be available before and after each performance – all profits will go to the charity Pour Un Sourire d'Enfant (PSE).
