Welcome to term two to all our new and existing families!

Issue 15: 13/1/2023 From the Principal

Learning Advice Report  (Mid-term Report): On 27th January, for students from year one to year six, you will receive a new look learning advice report. Containing a guide to where your child is and their next steps to make progress. Please spend some time discussing them with your child or children.  To help our students live the School Mission and realise their full potential, practising and supporting their targets at home is really helpful.

IEYC/IPC Exit Points (Meeting the School Misson): Working together with families is an essential part of our school mission. Term One enabled students to work with their peers and families to demonstrate their Knowledge and Skills and also Understanding through reflection activities. Take a look at some of the amazing learning on IS Primary Twitter

Chinese New Year (International Mindedness): We wish all of our families a happy and prosperous year of the rabbit. In this short half-term, both our French and International Primary students came together on both campuses to enjoy cultural festivities and celebrations.  These will be during the shared project. We are pleased that we will have lion dances back on campus too! We will be inviting parents into classes to lead workshops or take part in workshops for the Chinese New Year.

Staff absence in IS Primary: In IS Primary FIS, we only use internal cover teachers so that they know our students, curriculum and procedures.  We do not use external cover teachers.

Mr Marc Doucette is our new full-time cover teacher across all campuses. We also recruit teaching assistants who are qualified teachers who have chosen not to take on a teaching role, so for some absences, they will teach the class.

At all FIS Primary campuses, the curriculum and policies are consistent. Year group teachers plan together to ensure that the curriculum is designed in the same way for all classes in the year group.

Inauguration of the new Jardine’s Lookout campus library: This week, we celebrated the opening of Jardine’s new library. On Tuesday, January 10, the inauguration of this magnificent space took place. For the occasion, the delegates of each class of the two streams had prepared the reading of a book entitled “A book, what is it for?” Each child was able to read a page by choosing the language of their choice, so we had French, English and Mandarin!
