Within the framework of the new Cycle 3 programmes that today cover Primary (CM1, CM2) and lower secondary (6eme) Mr Guichet (CM1 – Chai Wan), Mr Bartozzi and Mr Pennel (Mathematics – 6eme) decided to organise a big competition for students in CM1, CM2 and 6eme.

Students in groups of 2 or 3 had several weeks to make a short animation video lasting a maximum of one minute illustrating one of La Fontaine’s fables using the programme Scratch.

Under development for 10 years at the MIT media Laboratory, Scratch is a free software conceived to introduce students from the age of 8 to the basic concepts of mathematics and computing. It rests on a fun algorithmic approach to help them to create, reason and cooperate.

Watch the videos here and click for your favorite! Be quick as the deadline is midnight on 18 June!!

Of course, as for every competition, there has to be a winner. Two prizes will be selected:

  • The Grand Jury Prize : a jury of specialists (school teachers in Art, French, Computing, Mathematics …) will vote the 3 best clips and choose the best
  • Public Prize: the video which gets the most ‘likes’ will win

The winners will be announced on the week of 20 June and they will receive their prize soon afterwards!
