For three years now, our Film Fest team has been responsible for organizing the International Sustainable Development Film Festival. The films are divided into 5 categories: Peace, People, Planet, Prosperity and Impact.
On Wednesday April 17, 2024, we screened at TKO the 4 best films in the “Peace” category, dedicated to political issues in particular. The jury, made up of members of the 20 participating schools, parents, teachers, our partners (Consulat Général de France, Alliance Française, Youthtopia, etc.) and film specialists, voted for the best film in a particularly rich category.
After much discussion and debate, the best film for the “Peace” category turned out to be the one directed by Paloma Hesry (Terminale, LFI de Hong Kong), which recounts her reconnection with her roots through the story of Gong gong and Popo, her grandparents.
For me, this film is a tribute to my grandparents and my Chinese roots. I was driven by a natural drive throughout the making of the film, which allowed me to go beyond the academic framework. I’m really happy to have been able to carry out a duty of remembrance on my mother’s side, and to have been able to bring my family together around this event.
We are therefore delighted to be able to share with you her film entitled “Gong Gong et Popo”.
In second place, Camille Godefroy’s film (1st) on the memories of the Khmer Rouge received the Peace Silver Award.
Other finalists in this category were the moving “Marcel et Edmonde, s’aimer sous les bombardments” by Aliénor Pabiot and “Les Cendres, les Bombardments du Portel” by Timothée Clément, also available on the page. There were many other films in the selection that would have deserved podium honours, but the jury had to decide, and it was an arduous task.
Henry Pandamadi, co-president of the Peace jury: “The debates were very close, as each member of the jury has a different outlook and sensibility. But everyone was delighted by the films submitted. We have to see the winners as representatives of the entire category, with a particularly high standard.”
Congratulations to all participants!
And….the festival is just getting started! Join us on 6th May for the “PLANET” event from 1 to 3 pm in the TKO auditorium!
See you there!
