Secret Reader / Come and learn with us
For several weeks now, the CW teaching team has been welcoming parents during class time, through two scheduled events.
The aim for the children is to share their school world, show off their work, and enable parents to meet their classmates.
The children are delighted to welcome their parents!
These drop-in sessions also reinforce the collaboration between the school and families.
Teachers are delighted to be able to give families the chance to find out more about how they work, how the class is organized and what the children do on a daily basis.
Parents appreciate the opportunity to share in their child’s daily life, and to gain a better understanding of the learning that goes on during the school day.
Here are the two proposed initiatives:
- The first is called “Stay and learn with us”
Parents can attend the morning welcome and rituals, then take part in a learning session.
- The second is called “Secret Reader” :
As part of our school programs, which encourage us to develop awareness of linguistic diversity in kindergarten, families are invited to come and tell a story in their native language, or language of communication, whether French or another language. The registered parent chooses a book and submits it to the class teachers before coming to read it.All this remains a secret, because it’s a surprise for all the children in the class, even your own child!
