Exhibition: “Self-Portrait / Identity”

Issue 46: 01/12/2023 Blue Pool Road, Tseung Kwan O News (Reflections and Achievements) 3ème

Work by 3ème students of BPR and TKO

Self-portraiture can be a complex exercise at any age, especially in adolescence.

Self-portraiture is not limited to a simple physical resemblance to the subject. It offers the opportunity to show different dimensions of oneself, sometimes in line with the image one wishes to project, and sometimes in opposition to this expected image.

With this in mind, a group of 3ème students explored the question of how to represent oneself artistically as part of a search for identity. To help them, Elodie Vandenbergh, a school psychologist, spoke about identity and self-esteem.

The aim of the project was to help young people learn to know themselves better, at a time when other people’s opinions can have a major impact.

Each work is an invitation to understand, appreciate and accept the complexity of human identity, in constant evolution.

It’s up to us to listen to these realizations that don’t say their name!
