Meeting with Olivier Shaack

Specialized Arts, HLP and HGGSP students had the chance to meet TV5Monde’s artistic director, Olivier Shaack, who not only has had an exceptional career path, but is also full of humility.

After starting out at RTL in Luxembourg, Olivier Schaack joined the M6 Group and then took part in the creation of the TPS audiovisual bouquet as Artistic Director. Olivier joined the CANAL+ Group in 2000, where he developed the Group’s Artistic Direction, bringing together all the creative teams in charge of On-Air & Digital Self-promotion, Sponsorship Billboards, corporate films as well as the Visual Identities & Packaging for all CANAL+ Group brands. In 2020, Olivier set up his own creative consultancy, 2ACK . He is also Artistic Director of the French electric-assist bicycle brand NEOMOUV.

Since the summer of 2022, Olivier has been Artistic Director of TV5 MONDE, the world channel of the French-speaking world.

On Monday morning, accompanied by Alexandre Muller (Managing Director Asia-Pacific TV5 Monde), Olivier Schaack gave a general presentation on the role of a media company’s Art Director, focusing on visual identity, program and service promotion, on-air and on social networks, and more. As a media art director, his role is to oversee and guide the visual and artistic aspects of all his organization’s media productions, and his responsibilities are manifold. From visual design, to art direction, to content selection, or team management, and despite a world of constrained creation as he was able to evoke, his goal is nonetheless to be happy, no matter what!
