Geology Fieldtrip to Sai Kung (1ères SVT specialty)

On Monday 6th November, 2023, students in Première specialising in Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) spent a very sunny day at the Geopark UNESCO in Sai Kung, accompanied by their teacher Mr. Rascalou.

After a visit to the volcanology center, the students then took the boat to Sharp Island and its famous tombolo, to carry out fieldwork and apply the geology knowledge acquired in high school and college.

Between picnics on the beach and rock sampling at low tide, they were able to use their geoscience knowledge and techniques to deduce the contemporary and past geological history of the area, going back to the last 143 million years.
