A busy week back & busier times ahead

Issue 42: 3/11/2023 Blue Pool Road News (Reflections and Achievements) Y7, Y8, Y9, Y10, Y11, Y12, Y13

This week has seen Mr Clayton, Mrs Hall and myself at the three International Primary School campuses to re-introduce the presentations about the Secondary School offerings, exam results and university destinations that were a feature of the Autumn programme prior to the 2019-2022 period of sporadic school closures. There has been a very healthy turnout from the community this week, and we will have two more evening sessions at TKO and Chai Wan in a fortnight’s time. There have been some great follow up questions and conversations, and all three of us have been touched by the overwhelmingly warm and positive comments made about how strong the FIS community has become.

Next week sees our Year 8 out for the morning to the Science museum in TST. We are now finally able to start having offsite trips to enrich our curriculum offerings which are not hampered by restrictions at venues or on travel. Ms Marshall & our staff are currently working on a CAS activities schedule that will happen earlier than usual in the school year, during the week 22 – 26 April 2024, for our years 7,8,9,10 & 12 (as years 11 & 13 will have departed on study leave for exams). This will constitute a range of offerings for both trips overseas and within Hong Kong, all of them having various aspects of Creativity, Activity or Service as a base. Year 12 will have their own specific trip, and the rest will be available across the age range. We are currently looking to have the details out by the end of November 2023, and have sign ups made before we leave for the Christmas break.

Although we have only just got back from the half term break, it is not long until the first set of grades for Term 1 will be published on Friday 8 December, with the following week dedicated to student reflections on how well they did and what they can do to improve. This will then feed in to the online parents teacher conferences that take place before we leave for the Christmas break.
