Exhibition Sustain*Ability*Art

Issue 39: 6/10/2023 , , Blue Pool Road Notices (Upcoming Events) ,

Goethe-Institut Hongkong is proud to partner with the Consulate General of France and the Consulate General of Germany to present the group exhibition Sustain*Ability*Art. Our students will also benefit of the exhibition from 5 to 19 October at 5th Floor, BPR Campus.

The art exhibition aims to raise public awareness, especially among the young generation, on the environmental challenges that our planet is facing. French architect Charlotte Lafont-Hugo and German artist Cornelia Erdmann teamed up with Higher Diploma in Visual Arts and Culture students from Hong Kong Design Institute to create this exhibition, showcasing mixed media artworks made of upcycled materials. Partnered with local NGO Plastic Free Seas, waste materials were collected from the beach and transformed by the student artists into art installations and mixed media works that provoke our sight and senses, addressing the environmental impact of human unsustainable consumption and overuse of plastics.

This project was constructed around the idea of transmission from the artists to the higher education institution students and then from the higher education institution students to the secondary students. An artist-student sharing with HK Design Institute students will be organised in Mr Marc German’s class on Wednesday 11 October.
