Tribute to Milan Kundera at BPR’s CDI by Alienor P. (TB)

Issue 37: 22/9/2023 Blue Pool Road News (Reflections and Achievements) 6ème, 5ème, 4ème, 3ème, 2nde, 1ère, Terminale

Until 5th October, the BPR CDI is hosting an exhibition on Milan Kundera, who recently passed away at the age of 94. The exhibition was proposed and produced by Aliénor P., a TB student.

On Tuesday 19th September, the exhibition was inaugurated in the CDI in the presence of Mrs Coupat, Dr. Bonin and Mr. Gazeau.

Below is Aliénor’s introduction:

“Milan Kundera is one of the most eminent contemporary writers. His life was marked by the torments of the totalitarian Communist system, forcing him to leave Czechoslovakia and seek refuge in France in the mid-70s.

Most of his literary work can be described as philosophical, as it features individuals confronted with historical and political issues and their own destinies. His characters’ main preoccupation is the quest for meaning: how can they give meaning to their existence?

Through his words, Kundera reminded us that life itself is a constantly evolving work of art, and that every moment is an opportunity to learn, grow and flourish. His exploration of themes such as love, identity and freedom has left an indelible mark on the contemporary literary landscape.”

A Milan Kundera “dummy” desk graces the exhibition.

Whether you’re visiting BPR or spending your free time there, we look forward to seeing you at the exhibition.

As a reminder, the CDI is open from 8.20 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
