Women in my kitchen!

Issue 30: 2/6/2023 Blue Pool Road News (Reflections and Achievements) Terminale

Women in my Kitchen is the project completed and realised by Pauline C. for the practical test as part of the baccalaureate in Specialty Arts. This is a monumental 2.00 x 6.10 m printed photomontage.

Visible in the foyer (7th floor of the campus), this work seeks to celebrate the influential women of history and bring them some visibility within the school. In this monumental production, Pauline combines more than fifty images from various popular sources to create a unique photomontage that, with her shocking phrase “They did not stay in the kitchen” and her questions, seeks to establish a dialogue with the spectator about the place of women in our society. By taking up Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, Pauline wanted to play on the idea of cooking, which is all the more accentuated since this work is exhibited at the canteen level. Moreover, by diverting the master’s iconic work, it attracts the attention of the public. Congratulations on this major, feminist and content-rich project. Pauline also presents the 13 cartels of the 13 women represented, each having played a key role in our societies.
