Nicolas S., lauréat du concours général des lycées
Dear Parents,
FIS is proud to congratulate NICOLAS S., winner of a prize in the Chinese test of the Concours Général des Lycées et des Métiers (General Competition for High Schools and Trades).
Nicolas will be received in Paris on 6th July, and the Director of the AEFE will also be present.
The Concours Général des Lycées et des Métiers distinguishes the best students from general, technological, and vocational high schools. It values works that can serve as a reference for all classes, while following the evolution of national education. Candidates take exams on subjects that are in line with official programs but within the framework of more demanding and longer tests than those of the baccalaureate.
Examination of the compositions leads to the following awards:
- Three prizes: first prize, second prize, third prize.
- Five honorable mentions: from the first to the fifth.
- Up to ten mentions
These prizes are awarded by the French Minister in charge of Education, on the proposal of the jury presidents. The winners of the first, second, and third prizes receive their reward during a ceremony at La Sorbonne.
For over two centuries, the Concours Général des Lycées et des Métiers has distinguished the best students and valued their work.
- 1744: The University of Paris establishes the competition, at the initiative of Abbe Legendre.
- 1747: The first prizes are awarded at the Sorbonne.
- 1924: Open to students from outside Paris and to girls.
- 1981: Open to technological subjects.
- 1995: Open to specialities in vocational education.
