On 3rd and 4th June, 34 students from both French and International Streams competed in the Junior and Senior categories at the World Scholar’s Cup Hong Kong Round competition, a two-day academic competition that tested their debate, active recall and writing abilities.

In the lead up to this competition, the FIS English Debate Team ran practice debates and writing workshops to prepare participants for the challenges. Incredibly, the entire team qualified for the Global Round along with receiving an impressive number of medals and trophies.

One of our junior debaters, Maëlie B., was picked for the debate showcase. Jacqueline, another junior debater, won 2nd overall in all categories. Two junior teams also received medals in the team debate. The first won 2nd place in the junior category (Jacqueline, Hye Seung and Ria), and the other (Aemilia, Rose and Maëlie) won 5th place in the senior category. On top of this, Year 10s and 12s participated and won numerous medals, in a variety of different categories.

There were many other victories such as these, with all competitors taking away different medals and awards from the event. The FIS delegation thus went home triumphant, having given an excellent display of the determination and talent of our students.
