A week without walls

Issue 34: 30/6/2023 From the Principal

What a tiring week that was!  In all our years 7, 8, 9 & 10 took part in 14 different experiential learning opportunities this week.  There was an activities trip to Borneo, an activities residential not so far away in Sai Kung, a West Kowloon cultural experience, a trip to the aviation centre at HK Poly U, an entrepreneurship experience with the founder of Breer, an FIS World Scholars Cup tournament, a mindful calligraphy workshop, teacher-led taskmaster activities, a group of conservationists working with the environment group Tamee, students working at the soap recycling centre, a visit to The Shed to explore how to recycle waste food, a theatre workshop, a community spirited group helping to make life easier for some more elderly people, a visit to the Crossroads recycling centre on the Gold Coast and finally a beach clean up in the Shek O area.

These experiences are often what we remember from our school days, and all the comments that I have had from teachers and students attest to this being the case this week.  Our year 12 stayed behind in order to work on their Group IV presentation, and also start developing their University applications. They too got a lot out of the week, and will stand them in good stead for the start of next year.

Next year we are planning to offer our CAS week experiences in April 2024, and hope to have details out in the first half term. It remains for me to wish everyone a relaxing holiday wherever in the world that you may be. To our leaving staff and families, thank you for all that you have done to make our school one of the best in Hong Kong. Please come back and see us when you can and keep in touch via our alumni Facebook group.
