“CLOSE-UPS OF FLOWERS” – ART HOUSE 2023

Issue 29: 19/5/2023 Blue Pool Road News (Reflections and Achievements) Y10

Art House 2023 brings together among others the magnificent paintings of the students of Year 10 who from close-up photographs of flowers, made the distinction between abstraction and realism. Using a proportion grid, they were able to reproduce and enlarge the photograph of the chosen flower, working with a very realistic approach to understand the resemblance and its codes through the practice of acrylic painting.  A great artist, like a great scientist, will be able to see the extraordinary in an ordinary everyday object simply by examining it in a new way. Greatly inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe, all paintings  from Year 10 students reach an outstanding level, beautifully showing mastery of skills, representing Sunflowers, Dahlia, Orchid, Caladium, Lotus flower, Orange daylilies, or Gazamia red and yellow flower.  Congrats to Scarlett, Lauren, Audrey, Kiara, Thomas, Karina, Alessandro, Donna, Charlize, Vana, Katie, Gwyneth, Marcus, Monique and Sammi!
