Civil Brawl on the 6th Floor

A fight broke out at morning break on Wednesday 26th April between 4eme students from the houses of the Capulets and the Montagues. Fortunately it was stopped by “Prince Bonin” before anyone could be seriously injured!

4ème students in the American Section have been studying Romeo and Juliet in English and learning a variety of stage fighting techniques in drama, and on Wednesday they created a piece of “invisible theatre”, staging the Act 1 Scene I fight between the Capulets and the Montagues on the 6th floor basketball courts. The students approached in 2 gangs, biting their thumbs at and quarreling with each other, before breaking out into a full fight with fists, swords and knives. Dr Bonin played the role of the Prince, storming in and breaking up the fight “On pain of death”.

The performance drew a large crowd, who thoroughly enjoyed the tension of the build up and the drama of the stage fight, as well as seeing their peers put in their place by the authority of the Prince.
