Battle of the Books – Friendly Competition

On the 18th of April, FIS’ three primary campuses participated in a friendly reading competition, known as Battle of the Books, at Jardine’s Lookout campus against ESF Glenealy School. This friendly competition was a chance for everyone to learn how the actual Battle of the Books event works and, of course, to improve our understanding of this year’s 20 books.

As everyone was reunited in the auditorium, there was a ripple of excitement in the audience during the explanation of the rules. Mr Durkin announced every round’s teams (there were 10 in total) and read out all the questions. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves!

At the end of the competition, the winners were… ESF Glenealy School Team 1! JL came second and TKO came third. Although FIS didn’t come first, no one seemed sad or disappointed, and we left with a happy smile and feeling proud.

This year’s Battle of the Book’s semi-final event will take place on Thursday 4th May.
