Art & Design – Coursework & Final Exam

Issue 26: 28/4/2023 Blue Pool Road News (Reflections and Achievements) Y11

Year 11 students had their Cambridge final exam in Art & Design on 18th April. Coursework was all completed and now they have to focus on Paper 2, the other part of the assessment. They carried out their own research, planning and investigation of ideas to develop their own personal response about only one starting point among the following: “Lost” and “Buttons, bangles and beads“. In addition to the work they produced during the 8-hour supervised test, they had to submit up two A2 sheets of supporting studies showing how they developed their ideas and attempted different outcomes during the preparatory period. They were inspired by many artists such as Rene Magritte, Edward Hopper, and Claude Monet. Experimenting with portrait and figures, objects, landscapes, within various angles and closeup, they also focused on an approach to realism, using techniques such as graphite and colour pencils, watercolour and acrylic paints. The final outcome is a collection of beautiful paintings on large scale paper (60x42cm). To know more about each final piece follow our art gallery: @creART852
