FIS is hosting ISTA (the International Schools Theatre Association Hong Kong Festival)

Issue 23: 24/3/2023 , Notices (Upcoming Events)

This weekend students from schools all over Hong Kong will gather at our Tseung Kwan O campus to take part in three exciting days of theatre making.

Students from our International and French Streams will be joined by students from West Island School, Rennaissance College, and Creative Secondary School to work with professional theatre practitioners from the Asia Pacific Region, creating and devising original pieces of theatre.

The festival, entitled “The Legend of Tin Hau”, will explore the theme “Withstanding Storms”, focusing on the Confucian saying “The green reed which bends in the wind is stronger than the mighty oak which breaks in a storm.” On Friday the students will visit the Chi Lin Nunnery, a beautiful and tranquil oasis amid the frenetic urban environment of Hong Kong. Through the story, quote and site visit, students will explore the theme using drama and develop their creative response under the guidance of the artist.

The event promises to offer students the chance to develop their drama and creative skills in new and exciting ways!
