Improved Mandarin programme for 6ème

Regularly in the newsletter, I will draw your attention to some new features and improvements in the pedagogical programme that we will implement in the French Secondary as of next September.
In March, I will be holding a virtual meeting with all parents of the French Secondary to present all of these improvements.
Today I will specifically talk about an improvement for 6ème regarding the Mandarin programme. 6ème is the third and last year of what is called “Cycle 3” (Cycle 3 includes CM1, CM2 and 6ème). In CM1 and CM2, students study English and Mandarin. Starting in September, all students in 6ème will study Mandarin in addition to English, as in primary school.
Officially, it is only in 5ème that students select a second or third language.
Bringing this forward will eliminate the one year gap that would otherwise interrupt 6ème students’ Mandarin learning before choosing it again in 5ème.
