FIS Alumni Take Flight

Issue 20: 24/2/2023

Last week, we proudly announced the name of the winner of the inaugural Alumni Trophy of the French International School of Hong Kong, one of the five Trophées des Français d’Asie du Sud-Est organised by lepetitjournal.com. These five trophies, covering this year for the first time Greater China (Hong Kong, Macau, China and Taiwan), Korea and Japan, reward talented French entrepreneurs in all fields.  From finance and technology, to hospitality and catering, to social and charitable enterprises, to arts and culture and beyond, these 52 candidates, 25 finalists and 6 winners all stand out, often excelling and showing admirable resilience in recent years.

Sonalie Figueiras

The winner is Sonalie Figueiras who is well known to many sustainability enthusiasts in Hong Kong and on the international conference circuit.

An FIS Hong Kong alum from 1985 to 1996 (up to 4ème, before following her family to Singapore and attending university in the US), Sonalie is a passionate entrepreneur.  She is the founder of GreenQueen.com.hk, an online medium specialising in vegan consumption, biodiversity, climate and sustainability across the APAC region and her award is perfectly aligned with FIS’ strategic and educational focus on sustainable development (as an example, we received this week the HKAEE Award for our climate education initiatives). Sonalie will be presenting her work and sharing her experience during question and answer sessions with FIS students.

The other finalists of the FIS Alumni Trophy are also full of merit, courage and creativity.  Our hats off then to Baptiste Droniou, founder and gallery owner of Épicerie Fine and promoter of street art, sister and brother Laura and Alexis Offe, restaurant owners and co-founders of Meraki Hospitality Group and Marine Thomas, curator at the Sai Kung Marine Reserve.
