Welcome to 2023 and FIS’s 60th Anniversary

Issue 14: 6/1/2023

Dear FIS Community,

WISHING YOU A GREAT NEW YEAR 2023!

Today is an opportunity to wish you one more time a happy new year: a year of fulfilment and meaningful learning for our students, as well as ongoing strengthening of our community. The recent relaxation of health protocols I shared earlier this week and which is summarised again in this Bulletin certainly helped set the tone. It provides more opportunities for community events, student participation in ECAs, less risks of class closure, and even the possibility for students to have masked-off physical activities on campus, starting this coming Monday. Note that we will nonetheless remain vigilant and compliant with existing rules to ensure continuity of learning and minimal disruption to our operations brought forward by any increase in cases.

… AND HAPPY 60th ANNIVERSARY TO FIS!!

Here we are: 2023 is the year of FIS’s 60th anniversary, and you will find in this message the logo we will be using to helm activities we will be holding along the year.

FIS is one of the first established and foremost international schools in Hong Kong and for the past 60 years, we have inspired our students’ creativity, intellectual curiosity and passion for learning whilst celebrating the individual as part of a diverse and engaged community.

This month, we are delighted to kick off a year-long programme of celebrations that will open with the inauguration of our recently renovated Library at the Jardine’s Lookout campus – and you are welcome to book a session to read to our Primary students in any native language, an occasion to celebrate the great cultural diversity of our community.

At the other end of the year, the Anniversary festivities will culminate with a Fund Raising Gala Event in November 2023 featuring some of our best artistic talents and an entertainment agenda that will highlight both the foundations of our past and our continued vision of excellence for the generations to come.

In the intervening months, we will offer a series of events and celebrations, small and large, to continue to enjoy this milestone through exhibitions, performances, conferences, shows, and retrospectives featuring our students and involving our community of stakeholders at large – parents, faculty, partners and benefactors. Many thanks to our FIS Community Association (FISCA) for their help and support in this endeavour. We look forward to sharing more details in future communications and issues of the Bulletin.
