On Friday, 2nd December, 1ère SVT (Life and Earth Sciences) students spent the day in Sharp Island, accompanied by a parent (Mrs Slama) and their teacher (Mr Rascalou).

This was an opportunity for them to do geology work in the heart of the UNESCO Geopark of Hong Kong.

After a visit to the Volcano Discovery Center in Sai Kung, the students took the boat to Sharp Island.

Through various hands-on workshops, they were able to reinvest the knowledge they had acquired in middle and high school in order to reconstruct the geological history of the area over the past 143 million years.

This field work was interspersed with a picnic on the beach, followed by direct observations to deepen their knowledge of ecology and evolutionary biology.
