Reports and 3 Way Conferences – What is expected of parents?

Issue 11: 2/12/2022 Blue Pool Road Notices (Upcoming Events) Y7, Y8, Y9, Y10, Y11, Y12, Y13

Next week sees the first of our bi-annual student-teacher-parent 3 way conferences (3WC) on Wednesday, 7th December (2.30 – 7.30 pm) and Friday 9 December (8.30 am – 5.30 pm).  The reports have been published today, and details of how to access these as well as make bookings for the 3WC can be found via your messages on the Parent Portal through Engage.  Please refer there for all the details that you need.

Why have we stayed online for these?  The feedback through the community, from parents and staff in particular, is that it gives a lot more flexibility for the meetings.  It was noticeable how more working parents were able to access the meetings with this format, be they at the office in Hong Kong or out of the country as part of their job.  This made for much richer conversations.

What is my role as a parent?  Well, in all honesty, to listen. Your child is expected to lead the conversation and use their electronic reflection booklet to give their thoughts on what has gone well so far this year, and then put forward ideas about how they can improve their areas of weakness. The teacher will then give feedback on these thoughts, and there should be a little time at the end for any questions from yourselves.

What do I do if I cannot make an appointment? First of all go to your child’s electronic reflection book and discuss with them their written reflections. If you would like more details from the teacher, please email them and they will get back to you with some thoughts.

We hope that you will enjoy your interactions with all the teachers, and strengthen the relationships with them at the same time.
