Climate Action Day – A Day of Action and Hope at FIS

Issue 12: 9/12/2022

What an incredible time we had at Climate Action Day! Last Saturday morning, more than 150 students, parents, volunteers, and partner organisations came together to educate, illustrate, and discuss what we can all do to combat climate change.

Our motto for the day was “Climate Education Matters. Every Action Matters.” FIS is creating a pathway for climate action in our community. It meant so much to us that so many people came to our TKO campus to not only learn what FIS is doing to combat climate change but think more deeply about the impact we can have individually.

We were particularly inspired by the voices of our children and young people. They were active participants in the seven activities and four workshops that took place at the event. The commitment and environmental awareness of our young people give us all great hope that we can all do something to create change.

Here are some of their ideas on climate action:

Thank you very much to everyone involved in producing Climate Action Day. A special thank you to FIS students for their artwork, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, The French Consulate, Big Bang Academy,  Go Goals Team, Maker Bay Foundation, EcoMatcher and FIS student Elodie, Book Station and Film Screening teams, Climate Fresk facilitators, parent volunteers, FIS leadership teams, and last but not least our very own FISCA team.

There’s a quote that we love from Ryunosuke Satoro, “Individually we are one drop, but together we are an ocean.” While there is still a lot to accomplish, the number of people in Hong Kong and around the world working together for a better planet gives us hope. Change is happening. Thank you for being a part of it.

We look forward to hosting more events dedicated to sustainability in Term 2 and Term 3. Watch this space and join us!
