Upcoming Workshops at Blue Pool Road
We would like to alert all parents in both streams, French & International, about a series of workshops that the staff in the International Secondary School will be running throughout the rest of the academic year 2022-23. They will all take place face-to-face on the Blue Pool Road campus in rooom 508 and last for an hour from 10 to 11 am on a Wednesday (dates as indicated).
The first of these workshops will be lead by Helen Marshall and Hannah Wright with the title "What is the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC)?" and will be of interest to parents who have children in years 5 through to 9 in the school. This will take place on Wednesday 23rd November and details of how to sign up will be posted in the bulletin next week.
Our second workshop will be lead by our IB coordinator Mrs Pauline Hall, who will use anecdotes from teachers/students to give parents an idea of a typical day/week in the life of an IB student. This will take place later in the term on Wednesday 14th December 2022.
In terms 2 & 3 we will be publishing more dates of upcoming workshops, and so far have pencilled in the following titles:
- A deep dive into IB Diploma Mathematics
- How to write a PEE paragraph
- I can't help them as I don't speak the language!
- The importance of role writing in learning
- Cultivating curiosity - the role of curiosity in learner engagement
- Personal development through a focus on the Arts
- Reading beyond the literal
As I said, these workshops are open to all the parent community - regardless of the section of the school that your child currently works in. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the workshops!
