The reporting season is upon us!

Issue 9: 18/11/2022 Blue Pool Road From the Principal Y7, Y8, Y9, Y10, Y11, Y12, Y13

I am sure that all parents will have heard their children talk about tests and assessments over the past week or so.  This means one thing: Reports are round the corner!  Whilst all our teachers gather evidence through the term (classroom engagement, homework tasks, group projects for example) in order to ensure that they are able to make an informed judgement on grades, formal tests also act as another touchpoint for them to be able to see what each student has learned from their efforts since we came back in early September.  As parents you will be receiving the first set of Current Grade Reports (CGR1) on Friday 2nd December 2022.  These come out in advance of the 3 Way Student-teacher-parent conferences (3WC) that take place a week later on Wednesday 7th & Friday 9th December 2022.

So how do these two events link together?  Well, student reflection on their work (both process and outcomes) is vital to allowing them to develop great learning habits.  In between the reports being published and the online 3WC, our students are guided by our teachers/tutors in writng their reflections of their learning in an electronic workbook.  This enables them to lead the conversation at the 3WC, to tell you and the teacher what has gone well and also what they can do to improve.  As such the students take the lead, and then teachers will also add their feedback.

Crystal Kwok will be letting you know the arrangements for the 3WC sessions in the next couple of weeks, so please keep an eye open on your school emails for this correspondence. If you would like to know more about the Secondary School Assessment Policy, please go to the teaching and learning in Secondary IS section of the MY LFIS part of the school Engage Portal.
