Student talk with Mr. François Drémeaux: Free France in Hong Kong

Mr. François Drémeaux, author and teacher-researcher at the University of Le Havre-Normandie, historian of the French presence in Hong Kong, will give a lecture to the senior students of LFI on 28th November from 2:30 to 3:30 pm in room 507 (Blue Pool Road). This lecture, organised in partnership with the Consulate, is also open to the public, parents, students, teachers and staff (25 places available) by registering via the form below (FIS health protocol is applicable).

Mr. Drémeaux will present the general context of the 1930s-1940s, zooming in on Hong Kong in 1939, and then on the French community at the same date. He will then discuss the beginnings of a Free French Committee rejected by London, the battle of Hong Kong in December 1941 through the eyes of a few Frenchmen, and finally life under the occupation.
