Class Representatives Training

Issue 10: 25/11/2022 Blue Pool Road News (Reflections and Achievements) 2nde, 1ère, Terminale

On Wednesday 23rd November, the class representatives of the upper secondary classes met for a two-hour training session. After a brief reminder of the different bodies of FIS as well as the organisation chart, Mrs Darmstadter, a philosophy teacher, was kind enough to help our elected representatives reflect on their function. And in particular, by showing them that it is part of a democratic system. After explaining the main principles of democratic representation, she discussed with the pupils the importance of this function for social life. This was followed by a case study which allowed our delegates to confront practical situations. Finally, Mr Massé came to debate on secularism and republican values. The students had the opportunity to discuss secularism within schools and more broadly within a state.
