FIS students attend Dr Jane Goodall’s talk

On Friday 11 November, students from “Ecologie & Territoires” classes were invited to attend a talk by Dr Jane Goodall, the famous primatologist, ethologist and activist who has spent a large part of her life living alongside chimpanzees in Africa, fighting on behalf of the world for animal rights and environmental protection in general. She gave a very positive and humanistic speech about “Reasons for Hope”, the title of her talk. A great lady and an excellent experience to share with our students.

“Ecologie & Territoires” groups at the centre of biodiversity

On Wednesday 16 November, students of “Ecologie & Territoires” went to visit Hong Kong’s Biodiversity Education Centre which is housed a magnificent historical building in the forest behind Quarry Bay. The Centre’s team went out of their way to welcome our students and show them the unexpected richness of Hong Kong’s fauna and flora. For example, they were able to see Paramesotriton hongkongensis… a rare kind of salamander, particular to our region!  Most importantly, the students were able to ascertain the links between the different surroundings in Hong Kong and their endemic species.
