Success at HK MakeX

The HK MakeX competition took place in the gymnasium at CDNIS on 3 November, 9am to 6pm. Five teams from FIS took part (10 students) and we were up against 5 other teams from VSA, CDNIS, GSIS.

The first part was the individual round where each team aims to score a total of 500 points by completing different tasks, such as making our robots follow a line and flicking switches.

After lunch, we started the alliance round where we were able to pick a team strategically in order to do tasks that included working together to obtain points. While there were less alliance tasks to do compared to individual tasks, the alliance tasks varied in difficulty. For example: moving 2 blocks to match the position of 1 set block.

Initially we all thought weren’t in such good positions since our teams had mistakenly programmed the tasks on separate files, but luckily for us, we managed to pull through! When the announcer called our team names, we all managed to win something nice and we’re glad as well as excited to make it to the finals!
