Moyenne Section students focused on Middle-Age

“Oyez, oyez, oyez good people … on Friday the 3 day of March in the year 2017, the little men and little ladies from the 4 Moyennes Sections Classes in the large Estate of Jardine’s Lookout were invited neither to a tournament to fight nor to a banquet to feast but to a great event called the Reading Rally.”

You will already have guessed the theme chosen for this year was “fortresses, kings, queens and knights.”  In each class we studied the following books: ” Le Roi aux oreilles de checal”, “Le château du petit prince”, “La princesse au petit pois”, “Le roi est occupé”, et “The Knight and the dragon”.

100 students were split into 16 groups with each group having to finish 6 workshops (reading, listening, i-pad games, handicrafts …) The morning went by very quickly and everybody seemed happy to take part in this new adventure.

A big thank you to our assistants for their commitment and valuable assistance as well as Caroline and all the volunteer parents who helped us to look after the children so well.

While Grande Section students focused on Chinese theme

Since coming back from the Chinese New Year holidays, students in Grande Section have been finding out about China by reading albums, traditional stories and documentaries.

The high point of this project – a meeting between the two campuses! The two Grande Section classes from Hung Hom welcomed their peers from Jardine’s.  It was a chance for them to show off their school!

Activities on the theme of China were on the schedule: put the years of the Chinese calendar in order; calligraphy workshop; a quiz on China and the albums they read; a game to recognize Chinese characters; presenting Hong Kong’s development through time in pictures …

The morning finished with a shared picnic in the sun! Students also received a certificate to show how much they had learned about China!

“I loved writing numbers in Chinese, we got to use real ink and a bruch” Mathilde

“My favourite thing was the characters from the Little Dragon album because they are like drawings. The mountain character had three clubs just like the peaks of a mountain!” Liam

“I loved putting the animals from the Chinese calendar in the right order” Alexandre

“I loved looking at the photos of old Hong Kong because it’s not longer the same.  Everything has changed.” Gabrielle
