[HKU-Pasteur Research Pole X FIS]

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of HKU-Pasteur Research Pole, FIS is organising a series of events in partnership with HKU-Pasteur.

The first part of the event took place on Tuesday March 23 when 9 students from Terminale “Spécialité HGGSP” (history-geography, geopolitics and political science) had the pleasure and the honour to visit the Pasteur laboratories.

During this visit, the students were able to meet and interview 4 researchers on the research related to the Coronavirus:

  • Prof. Leo Poon, one of the first to decode the first sequence of SARS coronavirus;
  • Prof. Ben Cowling, an active participant in the Hong Kong government’s expert panel on epidemiology;
  • Dr Vijaykrishna Dhanasekaran, specialist in Molecular Phylogeny;
  • Dr Sophie Valkenburg, a vaccine specialist.

Episode 16: Are masks effective ?
Episode 17: How does society react to health constraints ?
Episode 18: Different strategies against the epidemic: the case of Sweden, India and Hong Kong
Episode 19: How to ensure universal access to the vaccine ?
Episode 20: How is the international scientific research organised ?

On April 23 at BPR and on April 28 at TKO pre-prepared students of 3ème will have a discussion with Dr Vijaykrishna Dhanasekaran about Covid-19 related info/intox.

Finally, on April 30, a round table was organised and filmed *live*: students from Seconde and Première “SVT” specialty led a discussion with Prof. Ben Cowling and Dr. Sophie Valkenburg.
