Time to reflect, celebrate, and express gratitude!
As we reach this time of the year, let’s take a moment to reflect on the remarkable progress we’ve made. In just under six months, our accomplishments have exceeded our wildest dreams:
- Climate Action Day on 3rd December
- Ongoing composting at all four campuses, including Jardin Latino Americano at BPR Campus
- Continuous educational events through the Climate Fresk
- Inspiring climate change protest led by our Primary students
- Installation of solar panels at TKO Campus
- FIS proudly joins TASS – The Alliance for Sustainable Schools as a founding member
- Celebration of the International Sustainable Film Festival in May
- Engaging in beach clean-up activities
- Recognition with the HK Award for Environmental Excellence
- Ma Petite Planete initiative
- Student-led WEAR project combating Fast Fashion
- Exciting Green Week events at TKO and JL
- Informative recycling activities and educational talks for students and parents
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who played a vital role in making these accomplishments possible. As an African proverb wisely states, “It takes a whole village to raise a child.” We firmly believe that it also takes an entire village to organise such incredible events. Therefore, we would like to express our gratitude to the dedicated FIS teachers, staff, management, and leadership team, as well as our valued sponsors, organisers, and volunteers. We are immensely grateful for your support. Special recognition goes to Dr. Martial Jaume, our FIS Sustainability Coordinator, for being an exceptional partner throughout.
As we bid farewell to some cherished members of the Sustainability Committee, we want to express our deep appreciation for their passion, contributions, and unwavering commitment to co-creating change. We assure them that their legacy will be carried forward. A special thank you goes to the dedicated parent volunteers: Cedric Cheveau, Helga Vanthournout, Segolene Ronsin, and Laurence Venencie.
With the completion of the 2022/23 School Year, we reflect on our motto: “Climate Education Matters. Every Action Matters.” FIS is blazing a trail for climate action, and you are an integral part of this journey.
Looking ahead to the 2023/24 School Year, we are excited about the extraordinary projects brewing in our Sustainability Pot. Stay tuned for more updates!
