Report on 24th April Board Meeting and AGM on 22nd May
Last Monday’s Board Meeting focused first on a presentation by the FIS Community Association (FISCA). Four parents, members of the Association, reported on the activities, objectives, and future perspective for an organisation that is in its first year. This was an opportunity for all Board Directors to better understand the FISCA initiative and appreciate all the work done by the team and all the benefits for the school and our community. The Board was able to ask questions and express strong term support for the work of FISCA.
The Board also voted to approve phase 1 of our solar panel project. This initiative follows the pilot program in TKO and aims at equipping the roofs of all school-owned campuses (BPR, JL, and TKO) with solar panels. The benefits are as follows:
- Being true to our strategic commitment to sustainable development goals
- Providing practical pedagogical experiences to our students within the curriculum
- The investments are amortised within a few years, which brings additional financial income to the school in the long term
This approval allows installation of solar panels in Blue Pool Road (BPR) campus as early as this summer through a private contractor. Additional installations in Jardine’s and TKO campuses will follow through different approaches (partnership with a group and government-backed installation).
In addition, the Board proceeded with a first reading of updates proposed by the Governance Committee of our by-laws. These updates are required by the changes made last year on the Articles of Association. A vote is expected on this in the May board meeting, and should the new by-laws be adopted, they will be made available on our website soon after.
Finally, the Board approved the agenda and location of the upcoming 22nd May Annual General Meeting. All parents should have received an invitation to this important event for our community.
