End of Year – Happy Summer Break
Dear FIS community,
As the 2022-2023 school year is coming to a close, I wanted to take a break from our preparations for August back to school and share how wonderful a year this was for FIS, as well as a few prospects for 2023-2024.
Much learning was evidenced on campuses, in the classroom, in our auditoriums, and even outside our school, now that off-campus learning has resumed. As importantly, I saw a lot of happy children, delighted to be fully back in school for the first uninterrupted year on campus since 2018-19! We look forward to reporting over the summer and in autumn on exam results as well as final university destinations of our graduates. Please stay alert to our online postings and first issues of Le Bulletin in 2023-2024.
We have been proudly celebrating our 60th anniversary, with numerous wonderful student-led events such as art shows and film festivals, as well as community events such as the June 3rd Family Fun Fair that attracted close to 2,500 people on our Jardine’s lookout campus. More is scheduled in the autumn, and mark your calendars for the 25th November gala, a select celebratory fundraising event that will be the culmination of our anniversary celebrations. Space for the general public will be limited with ticketing for the event to start in September.
We are also celebrating our new future-focused strategy, adopted by our Board and recently presented to the community. With this strategy, you can remain confident in your choice of FIS for your children’s education.
Finally, on a personal note, this is the end of my first year at the school, a year of listening, learning, planning for the future, and already leading our efforts for ongoing improvements in areas now listed in our strategic objectives. Among others, a few examples would be our increased focus on cross-campus, cross-stream collaboration, on structuring and engaging the entire community, and on improving our infrastructures (this summer is seeing phase 3 of our ambitious renovation of Jardine’s and Blue Pool Road campuses). I want to thank everyone for your warm welcome in Hong Kong, and I look forward to further engagements with all of you in 2023-2024. Prospects for the school are positive with a strong and healthy enrolment due to the attractiveness of our programmes, historically low departures, high applications, and a noticeable return of members of the French community.
Therefore, it is on a positive note that I wish everyone, our students, faculty and staff, parents and all external partners a wonderful summer break. See you all in August, à la rentrée!
Warmly,
