My Little Planet
The 3 GS classes of Jardine’s have just finished the challenge entitled “Ma Petite Planète” (My Little Planet), which was carried out over the course of 3 weeks, in class but also at home.
This project allowed the students to become aware of the stakes of sustainable development, and the importance of “Taking care of our planet” according to the words of the children, but also to make them aware of the values of solidarity and sharing.
The slogan of the 3 R’s resounds in the classrooms: Recycle, Reduce, Reuse.
The challenges were numerous:
- At home: finish your plate, turn off the light, turn off the tap…
- In class: recycle and reuse objects…
Other challenges were very popular with the children, such as spending an evening without a screen, as some shared time with their family around a game or a book!
On a walk, the challenges were to pick up litter around the house, to hug a tree, to go on an outing with family or friends in nature.
A challenge to develop solidarity was entitled “Make a call to a family member who lives far away“.
The children, accompanied by their families, were invited to share the accomplishment of their challenges by taking pictures, posted on a common document, which was consulted each day in class. This is also a real learning tool to develop not only civic skills, but also language skills.
To close this challenge, certificates were given to each child, and the teaching teams prepared a small game for them to take home.
Congratulations to all the children, their families and the teachers who were all involved! See you at the next challenge!
We congratulate the children and their families for their committed participation, and we can only encourage them to continue these actions or daily gestures that work to take care of our planet!
