Message from the Head
Welcome to the French International School of Hong Kong, International Stream!
We take pride in our heritage here at the school which has been in existence for over 50 years. The International Stream has played a major role in the school’s development since its creation over 30 years ago and is devoted to educating a well-rounded student, one that can demonstrate intelligence, respect and care for society. In the International Stream, we are very proud of our academic record and prouder still of the kind of students that we produce.
As a through school, we can enjoy all stages of our students’ academic growth from learning their first letters and numbers to sitting their IGCSE and IBDP examinations and gaining entry to the best universities in the world.
Each student is different and we work hard to ensure a happy, community environment in which all can flourish and reach their potential.
Our students learn to be effective class communicators and collaborators, exhibiting creativity, confidence and resilience with the right attitudes. We equip them with the skills and attributes that will set them in good stead for life and are proud to see the young adults they become.
We aim to ensure students enjoy their learning experience and excel in their chosen fields.
All these ideas are encapsulated in our IPROMISE Personal Profile.
FIS' International Stream in a nutshell
About the International Stream
International stream students follow a programme based on the English National Curriculum enhanced for our international setting, as we recognize that children need to be able to appreciate and better understand their surroundings. Our programme is rounded off by the International Baccaleaurate Diploma for Senior Secondary students.
We want our students to develop a positive self-image while becoming confident and competent. They have to face challenges, make decisions, review and improve their performance, work with others and learn to recognise that their efforts are appreciated.
Our students share campuses with the French Stream students and together both streams form one single community. By sharing and working together through activities, students know each other and grow from the differences and similarities they experience.
Instruction is provided in English with the study of French compulsory.
This academic year 2020-2021, the International stream welcomes around 950 students of close to 40 different nationalities from Reception to Year 13; class size is limited to 25.
The academic programme offers a broad and balanced curriculum covering a set of subjects to give our students the exposure required to develop their understanding of the world around them and help them to make the choices that suit them for their futures.
