The week before half term was a busy week for Primary sport!

On Thursday 23rd February we organised a cross country race around the Happy Valley racetrack with Glenealy school. This was the second such race, as we had already competed together on Bowen Road earlier in the term.  This was excellent competitive practice and a good warm up for the children before the Island schools cross country event on Saturday 25th February.

HKPSSA Basketball Festival – Friday 24th February

On Friday we journeyed to Renaissance College where the tournament was being hosted.  It was a large event which consisted of a girls competition, boys competition and a mixed team competition. In each competition there were two leagues.  FIS took four teams and competed extremely well in the girls and the boys tournament. I was wonderful to see one of the boys teams winning their league and representing FIS in the final. A  fantastic achievement considering many of the children had never played competitive basketball before!  Well done!

HKPSSA Island Cross Country – Saturday 25th February

On Saturday we had a very early start for our FIS students, supporters and teachers!

Our destination, The Chinese International School for the Island Schools Cross Country event.  The team had been training hard and was well prepared for the event and the course, which was extremely challenging, with an enormous set of stairs that had to be completed more than once.  I was very proud of all runners who gave it their absolute best, with a particular mention to Thaddeus Rooney, who placed 5th in his race and the U11 Boys team, who came in 4th in the team event.

A wonderful week of competitive  sport and  we look forward to the 18th of March when we are going to Discovery Bay for the final Cross Country event and 29th March which will see us compete in our final basketball competition.

I would like to thank all the  staff, parents and students who took part in the three events and in particular Jane Wakeman and Richard Phillips.

Have a wonderful weekend, which, I hope, is full of sport!
