IGCSE Results 2024

The French International School (FIS) is delighted to announce that its Year 11 students have yet again obtained world beating results in the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations. They were created more than 30 years ago and today, are the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds. Not only are they truly international – they give students more options than any other international qualification. That means more subjects to choose from, more ways to learn and more ways to succeed.

This year, 70% of FIS students achieved 7 A*/A grades or more and four students in particular stand out with 10 A*/A grades each. One students excelled and scored A* in all 10 subjects for which she sat. Furthermore, around a quarter of all IGCSE examinations taken by FIS students were graded at A*, and a half at A*/A. 93 % of the candidates scored 5 or more passes at the UK national measure of A* through C grade.

“Another stellar year for our IGCSE graduates! Their dedication and hard work over the time spent at FIS, along with the ongoing encouragement provided by their talented teachers and supportive parents have led many of them to achieve grades above those expected of them. As a result of this success we are looking forward to welcoming a record 58 students into Year 12,” said Mark Williams, Secondary Principal of International Stream.

These students will now progress to the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 12 and 13. The IGCSE programme helps students build a strong foundation for the IBDP which is designed to give students a broad, well-rounded international education and the skills needed for success at university and beyond. FIS was the first school in Hong Kong to be authorised as a World IB School in 1988, and celebrates 36 years of excellence in the IBDP this year. FIS students regularly achieve high grades well above the world average for their IB diploma programme, and are admitted into prestigious universities around the globe.

  4. Des livres, des histoires (09:55) de Kol Darwin ; Kong Silawadhi ; Moua Artémis ; Sisowath Monica ; Vibol Lijee ; Thibault Le Bobinnec, Lycée Francais René Descartes, Phnom Penh, Cambodge. Spring Creative Arts program by Art & Play Studio: The children will celebrate the beauty of spring by creating a mesmerising glowing rainforest board.

Over the course of 5 days, students will embark on an artistic journey. On the first day, they will draw organic habitats, taking inspiration from simple black and white imagery found in discovery, inspiration, and reference books. This will serve as a foundation for their creative exploration. On the second and third days, students will add vibrant colours to their drawings, using pencils to lightly sketch the rainforest scenery. They will also have the opportunity to experiment with lightweight cardboard and white glue construction, creating additional plantlife pop-outs and adding dimension to their artwork.During the final two days, students will focus on adding intricate details to their dry painted cardboard pieces. They can use glitter sticky foam, mixed-media components like pom poms, circle stickers, buttons, oil pastels, washi tapes, patterned papers, and more. These elements will bring their rainforest to life with texture and visual interest.

To complete the project, students will layout their cutout “creative collection” of rainforest plants, black and white creatures, and dimensional habitats on a horizontal, pre-painted black cardboard. They will carefully arrange the pieces, considering the foreground, middle ground, and background, creating a captivating and immersive rainforest scene.
