Chinese New Year Celebrations by Year 7-9 Students

To continue to encourage appreciation of Chinese cultural traditions, Year 7 - 9 students have engaged in some activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year.  Yr 7 students tried traditional paper cutting, Yr 8 students made posters about the story of “Nian” and the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, and Yr 9 students used paper plates to create images of ancient blue and white porcelain plates to celebrate the Chinese New Year!  Teaching a language is most effective when students understand the culture behind it.
