Director of Marketing & Admissions

Full time role

The French International School of Hong Kong is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Marketing & Admissions. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Marketing & Admissions will play a crucial role in developing the School Marketing & Admissions strategy while providing leadership on fundraising and communication. This is a unique position at the heart of the French International School, with exposure to various stakeholders including Leaders, Experts and Policy makers in the Educational Domain, a wide variety of parents and students (2,700) from  the French Stream (1,900) and the International stream (800), the school administrative team (75+ people), the pedagogical team (250+) and the Board of Directors. The role includes the management of a team of 15 staff currently.

The Director of Marketing & Admissions is responsible for the strategic development and management of the following functions and teams:  

  • Marketing & Communications including digital strategy and tools
  • Fundraising
  • Events
  • Admissions
  • Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA)

Job Responsibilities

Marketing, Communication & Events

  • Develop a comprehensive strategic marketing and communication plan aligned with the FIS Board directions
  • Implement the marketing and communication strategy and manage the various tools and platforms used
  • Set clear priorities and targets for the Marketing, Communications & Events team (currently 7 staff)
  • Provide analysis and feedback based on surveys and studies carried out with the assistance of an appointed external research partner and the Management team
  • Grow brand awareness and increase visibility
  • Manage media relations and ensure publicity-related risks are mitigated appropriately and effectively
  • Overall responsibility for all events including community and promotional and marketing-related events


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan achieving revenue-raising goals for the short and long-term
  • Make sure that all opportunities reflect the School brand in a positive manner, remain adapted to the School possibilities, contribute to build the School credibility and reputation for the long term
  • Manage all financial and contractual obligations relations, ensuring that all payment processes are managed accurately

Admissions & ECA

  • Align Admissions with the overall school vision and strategy to maintain and develop student enrolment and retention reflecting the challenges of the competitive international school environment
  • Set clear priorities and targets for the Admissions & ECA team (currently 8 staff)
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, and moral and ethical standards
  • Develop and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, forecasting, and operational efficiency
  • Oversee the development of an affordable competitive and diverse ECA offer adapted to every age group

Job Requirements

Candidates must possess the following skills:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a management role in marketing
  • Previous experience developing comprehensive strategic plan and leading its successful execution
  • Proven track record of Leadership in complex multicultural environments with a wide variety of stakeholders with potentially diverging interests is a must to succeed in this position
  • Strong people management skills with a positive attitude, team spirit and a results-driven mentality
  • Bilingual, with excellent English verbal and written communication skills, and spoken French as minimum
  • Proven experience in the education field would be an advantage
