The first issue of our IB students’ Environmental Journal is out!

FIS is very proud of its students studying IB Environmental systems and societies and the great research work they have produced, under the supervision of their teacher Mrs. Relan.

This class of 15 students have all signed up to be a part of the Ocean’s 3C project, around the theme “Biodiversity in the Oceans”. The aim of the project is for students to educate themselves to develop their Ocean Literacy and better understand the Ocean’s influence on us as well as our own influence on the Ocean. The goal is for the students to ultimately become ambassadors within their community.

As part of this aim, the students have been researching on some Biodiversity issues in the ocean in Hong Kong and have chosen a few of these to write about in an Environmental Journal, a bimonthly journal they will publish as they develop their literacy regarding one of the most important ecosystems in Hong Kong.

For this first issue, the themes tackled are ambitious and diverse, including Hong Kong corals, Overfishing in Hong Kong or Human Activity and Dolphins. Take a look at this first issue and see for yourself!

They will also be implementing other projects later in the year – stay tuned for more updates!
