Sponsored Head Shave

Having previously supported the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises funds for childhood cancer research, I was delighted to be able to organise the first ever FIS sponsored head shave over a lunchtime during Kindness Week.

On the 13th February, myself and 14 other brave shavees had our heads shaved to raise both awareness and money to show support for childhood cancer research. The money we raised for St. Baldrick’s went to their partner here in Hong Kong, the Children’s Cancer Foundation.

When I first came up with the idea I never would have imagined how well received it would turn out to be with students, teachers, parents, and friends all coming together to show their support for this worthwhile cause. It was truly heartwarming to see this sense of unity and camaraderie in school as people of all ages turned up to show their support.

It was a fun FIS community event and thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, including the hairdressing team from W52 HAIR.NAIL, we raised a little over HKD140,000. This sum combined with the funds raised from other Kindness Week events including the sponsored walk and a bake sale, has so far risen to an amazing HKD144,710!

I would like to once again thank everyone for making this such a memorable event!
