Geology trip to Thailand for 1ère S

From 30 April to 5 May, 64 students from 1ère S travelled to Krabi to study the area’s geology.

On several exceptional sites students collected samples, tested hardness, drew landscapes and finally reconstructed the geological history of the region.  Studies of sandstone at the summit of Thub Kaek, of the limestone sediments from Railay and of the granite rocks of Phanom Bencha were on the programme. Mixing sports with fun and educational activities, this school trip was a real success, as students themselves testify:

“Great discoveries in the field of Geology in magical surroundings! Canyons and cliffs, rock climbing cliffs and hiking while studying rocks and minerals.” Lohan L.

“It was an instructive trip which made our theoretical geology lessons concrete, all in pleasant surroundings which suited our research perfectly […] the atmosphere was peaceful and stimulating for the whole trip.” Capucine V. et Ines V.

“On top of being able to further our knowledge and refine techniques in geology, we also discovered the Thai culture and environment through excursions to mangroves, canyons beaches and lakes…” Benjamin W.

“A great experience which allowed us to learn in a much more interesting and stimulating environment.”  Andreas L.P.
