3rd HKFTF a great success!

The companies invited by the Hong Kong French Theater Festival in March 2018 were a great success and enjoyed by the general public and our students.

Take a look at the video of the 4 days below:

FIS students had the chance to benefit from theatre workshops run by the actors from invited companies as well as attend two of the five plays.

Several FIS students along with students from the Canadian school, also had the honour of being on the student jury which presented a prize to the play which was judged to be the best.

They decided to award “Oscar et la Dame rose” for the incredible interpretation by the main and solo actor.

Oscar et la Dame rose is a eulogy to life; a eulogy which makes us realise that life, whatever its length, must be savoured in small bites, thanks to humour, friendship, love and laughter. A message for us all, young and old, wonderfully transmitted by the actor with childlike humour, among teddy bears and toy cars. The actor, alone on stage with a difficult dialogue, knew successively how to touch, move and amuse the whole of the audience.

Congratulations also to the technicians who knew how use lighting tricks to translate the sequence of days and the feelings of the patient.

Finally, congratulations to the company from Toulouse “Le Grenier” for the wonderful staging to support the main message of Oscar.

Oscar et la Dame rose is one of these rare plays at which I laughed, fumed and cried at the same time.  I think this was also the case for the rest of the audience.

So, a tender, moving and funny play which tactfully touches on philosophical questions which we are afraid to confront. This play proves to us that we can touch on these subjects, with the youngest too, without it being depressing. For sure, tears are spilled but there is laughter too. That’s how life goes … “
