Are the grounds owned by FIS?
No, but each of our campuses has its own history:
Jardine’s Lookout: the land was offered in 1982 by HK Government of Hong Kong until 2047 as part of an exchange involving the former residence of France, the current offices of the Consulate in Admiralty, the new residence of France and financial compensation. A clause stipulated that FIS open an International Stream. JL was operational in 1984.
Blue Pool Road: the land has been provided free of charge by the HK Government until 2047. BPR campus was operational in 1999.
Chai Wan: the land has been provided free of charge by the HK Government until 2020. We have an option to extend the lease for 5 years until 2025. Chai Wan campus opened in September 2011.
Hung Hom: the premises were allocated to the French International School by the Hong Kong Education Bureau within the framework of the school expansion. FIS opened HH in 2014. This campus will close at the end of the school year 2017/18.
Tseung Kwan O: in 2015, the HK Government granted the TKO site for a new campus development due to open in September 2018.
